Our story

It started with a bike, then with a mountain

1989

Thirteen years old, a mountain bike, and never a day without

Christian Dassi got on a mountain bike at thirteen and never got off. Rides became daily, then races, then the job: he worked in the bike trade, raced enduro and downhill, and learned on the ground what no manual teaches: how to read a trail, feel grip, know when to ride and when to put a foot down.

Thirty years later the rule has not changed: not a day goes by off the bike.

The Atlas, the turning point

A mountain bike trip to Morocco changed the perspective. In the Atlas mountains, among the Berbers, Christian found something other than trails: the welcome, the simplicity, a humanity that needs no words, and trails of raw beauty running from the passes down to the villages.

That trip shook me. The trails were magnificent, but what stayed with me was what happened between the trails. I wanted others to live that.

Sharing it: Morocco, then Iran and Georgia

Exoride was born in 2010 out of that urge to share. The first Morocco trips followed, in the High Atlas and then up to the summit of M'goun at 4,000 m. Christian went on to explore Iran, in 2014, then the Georgian Caucasus, in 2018: weeks of scouting, local partners found on the ground, and programmes built from scratch, where bikes sometimes travel on horseback.

None of these trips is a resold package. Each is the result of months on the ground, of encounters and of riders' feedback.

Valais, playground and school

In parallel, Christian built at home, in Valais, what did not exist yet: enduro shuttle days, the Exo'bus, trails picked for the group and for the day. Exoride pioneered shuttles in Valais, and was the first to offer days with 10,000 m of descent.

A Swiss Cycling certified instructor, he has coached hundreds of riders, from the first berm to the first drop, with the same pleasure as on day one: watching someone break through.

Today

Exoride reflects that passion, that experience and an energy that has not dropped: at fifty, Christian still steps onto international race podiums, with a double podium at the 2026 Megavalanche, and guides all year round, from Valais to Morocco. He rides with you, not ahead of you.

Since 2023, the Exo'base, our guesthouse in Orsières, welcomes riders at the foot of the trails.

What keeps us riding

Our mission, our values

Our mission

To take every rider onto the finest trails, in Valais and beyond, with the expertise that reassures them and the atmosphere that makes them want to come back. The route, the logistics, the safety: that is us. The fun is yours.

What we believe

A mountain bike is a means of travel as much as a sport: it opens valleys, villages and encounters no car reaches. A good trip is measured by its trails, and by what happens between the trails.

Expertise

Thirty years of mountain biking, Swiss Cycling certified guide and instructor, still racing. What we teach, we ride; what we guide, we have scouted.

Creation

Our routes and trips are built from scratch, after months on the ground. They are on no app and sold by no reseller.

Good company

Small groups of even ability, first names from the car park, shared meals, jokes included. We ride together, we come back together.

Safety

Trails chosen for the group and the conditions, spare bike and mechanical support, a guide trained in first aid. The fun starts when you stop asking yourself questions.

Respect

For hikers, for trails, for the people and cultures we ride through. Trail etiquette on every outing, volunteer trail work, local partners paid a fair price.

Simplicity

One contact from the first e-mail to the return to the car park: guiding, shuttles, lodging, rental. All you think about is the descent.

The Exoride spirit

You come for the trails, you come back for the atmosphere

Riders from twenty to sixty-five, regulars and newcomers, and the same ritual: introductions in the car park, first names by the first single track, a drink on the way back.

For ten years now, ever since a fantastic week-long trip to Morocco, I have been booking an Exoride outing regularly, at least once a year! Thanks to Chris, always highly professional, it is a guarantee of great days out in a friendly atmosphere.

Great experience riding around Leukerbad with Chris and Cynthia. They are amazing riders, guides and coaches, passionate about their sport and the region. It really felt like being with friends who were genuinely interested in showing us a great, and safe, day out.

Thank you Christian for your good humour, your humility and above all for the knowledge of your region! Even in Breton weather you found us beautiful, beautiful lines. And thanks too to the driver, discreet but just as friendly, and who takes good care of our bikes!

Mountain biking that leaves places better than it found them

Every season we put dozens of volunteer hours into trail maintenance and trail building, and we are involved in ProVTT Valais, which works for the development and legalisation of mountain biking in the canton.

On every ride, the Exoride trail etiquette: we slow down or stop for hikers, no skid marks, strict respect for the route. Abroad, our partners are local people paid a fair price, and our groups stay small so the valleys we ride through stay what they are.
